Nico' Birthday - To the Keys with a Tarpon

To the Florida Keys with a Tarpon they go! Hilda's nephew is having a birthday. He and his family collectively love fishing these babies.

She gave me a photograph of their favorite Tarpon and voila - presto interpretation from the Nancily camp!

Nico turned the big 16  recently and had a great weekend celebrating his birthday in Tavanier, Key Largo, Florida with family and friends.

As you can see above, there was nothing fishy about this catch of the day! This one was confectioned just for Nico; the icing on the cake after a hearty day of fishing.

It truly was a delicious work of art and a giant Tarpon at that. So happy to know, the cake left everybody in a state of fishing awe.

Amazing how a fish could provoke so many Kodak snaps! It was a nautical paparazzi moment. A weekend to remember!

Thanks for the kudos, says Nancily!

Happy 16th Birthday, Nico!

Mau mau mau!

Michael confused?

Tarpon: are large fish of the genus Megalops; one species is native to the Atlantic, and the other to the Indo-Pacific Oceans. They are the only members of the family Megalopidae

Tarpons grow to about 5–8 ft long and weigh 80–280 lbs. They have dorsal and anal soft rays and have bluish or greenish backs. Tarpons possess distinctive lateral lines and have shiny, silvery scales that cover most of their bodies, excluding the head. They have large eyes with adipose eyelids and broad mouths with prominent lower jaws that jut out farther than the rest of the face.[2][

Harley Papi

Daughter Mary, grandkids - Lauren, Kaitlyn and Jake ordered this hardly special carrot cake for Papi on Fathers day.

Papi loves 'Harley Davidson Everything' and Mary was able to secure the exact replica of his own Harley to place on top of the cake.

MY MOTOR

The wind and the wild are calling to me.
The long, open road is setting me free.
My wheels are turning toward newer ways,
Hiways of heaven have filled my days.
People in a hurry are rushing over there.
People who worried stop to stare.
I´d like to share my freedom and emotion,
But I just keep my chopper in motion.
The machine that I handle is shiney and black.
She´s a Harley-Davidson as matter of fact.
I keep her strong, she´s my one and only,
As ond as I´m on my Harley I´ll never be lonely.

The Baby Ahoy Shower

Father to be: Albert, Mother to be: Ivette, Me,
Amy: Auntie to be and of course my little helper, Alyssa

Finally, after 30 years of friendship with Lilia, Mary (my cousin) and I get to do something for her!

Her oldest daughter Ivette is having a baby boy - Anthony.  Lilia of course, works in a Production company which fabricates extreme events...went event happy herself.  No task is too small for this fandango!

Every detail was beyond amazing.

Tasks:

Husband Jorge made the Sails for flower arrangements.

Mary and Lilia worked on the flowers and set up of all the tables.

Table setting and flowers by Mary & Lilia

Lilia decorated the table with the fish net, starfish and all things  beautiful!

Did I mention? Well, the event took place at Marys house; pool side.

Maria, our good friend, who by the by ...we repeat to exhaustion that  "she wears many hats" is worth a Million.  Her job was  to organize the games.  She  also dressed up in black & white for laughs and served the food.

Ana, my niece made killer “Peach Bellini’s.

I handled desserts. ..

Anthony's Aunt- to-be handled the beautiful Sign In Book and the little keepsakes we placed on the chargers.

Mary and Lilia create  flowers arrangements for weddings, events etc. They have a unique style.
If you ever need them let me know.

Everyone was involved! An added surprise was the arrival of  Ivette’s Baby sister, not exactly a baby anymore, from the land of San Francisco to be with the family. OMG! It was so unique!

And what can I say about the deliciously amazing Menu:

Mary and Lilia made their famous Shrimp and Chicken Lasagnas.

Maria dished out a tasty  Caesar salad.

Lilia made whipped up Salmon pate....

I made the little tags in the shape of sailboats and whales using my cookie cutters.

I made the new family-to-be Mini Cakes decorated in nautica.
One for each member: Grandmother & Father, one for each of the Aunts and Uncle.

Funny, here we go again.. they all said to they were too cute to eat. Nice!

Amy with Mini gift

I made little cake pops in oval shapes and placed them on the cake pop sticks to make them look like sailboats. I made all the sugar decorations found on the cupcakes; this way everyone could  distinguish the different flavors: guava, coconut and pineapples . .

The gift table had a world made out of moss with a little airplane flying around the bottom as a center piece flower arrangement. .

They made a street sign just for the occasion.

Sidebar: Maria was pure entertainment aside from the games, food serving and the raffles! What a hoot!

The answer is: Yes! We stayed behind to clean up - Happily!

Lilia is a forever friend and has always been there for us all in every way - a lifetime of events!
At last we were able to give some love back!

Michael's Angry Birds

Dear Nancy,

Michael's thoughts on life and his party:

He said the night before his party that he wants to be President. He said his cake was incredible and his favorite cupcakes were red bird and black bird. He ate way too many cake pops. He has tried others and thrown them away, but not Nancy's cakes pops. He loved them!

Michael is starting kindergarten this fall, has lots of energy and absolutely loves to read. He says he wants another Angry bird party and so do his friends.

Your delicious cake, cupcakes and pops were top notch, loved by all and especially by Michael!!!!

Nancy, thank you for all your beautiful detail; I can tell you  love what you do:)

Grandmother

Thank you for this beautiful compliment.  Nothing makes me happier to know that all went well and that the job was well done. Nancy

Here is a sample of Hilda's, Michael's Mom's handywork and mine.

"I'm a Little Airplane"

I'm a Little Airplane
written by Leanne Guenther
tune of "I'm a Little Teapot"
I’m a little airplane, way up high, Hold hand up to forehead to shade eyes looking into the sky and point with other hand
With my great big silver wings, watch me fly!
Hold arms out like wings and tilt them side to side
When the pilot tells me, I’ll come down,
Hold hands over both ears like you’re holding the radio headphones (earmuffs) pilots wear
Swooping and gliding, to the ground.
Hold arms out like wings and spin in a circle, then kneel on the ground

Regretfully, this Airplane shower did not come to pass due to an illness to one of the family membera.  All is well and these were too cute not to share!
