Have a great labor day weekend - Be safe!

Two weekends before labor day:

Sometimes it's not all mini's, popsticks and cupcakes.  You would think that these collisions mostly happen on red letter weekends - sadly, they happen any time.

This is the story as we lived recently.. I will now paint a picture for you...little drama added for interest...

Scene One: There was a kind of young kid with a car that perhaps partied late the night before and may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Scene Two: Stopped at a light was a truck. We were idling patiently behind it waiting for the light to change to green.

Scene Three: There was a  kind of young kid with a car that perhaps partied late the night before that may have fallen asleep at the wheel and forgot to stop. He hit us all at a high speed ...

(seemed like the speed of the Concord when were slammed)

Scene Four, Five and Six:

The good news: Injuries were limited to back and neck.  We are alive to tell this story. It was a long ride home!

Nancily's Cupcake Shack wishes everyone a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!

Basic, Burlap, Barbecue, Baby Shower - Naydee & Christopher

Naydee and Christopher are having their first baby.  Boy or Girl? It’s a surprise! Naydee requested  a neutral cake for her Shower. Her husband is a “Chef” for world renowned Miami Children's Hospital with a flair for Barbecues.  They decided on a Picnic Bash Baby Shower; simple and back to basics thematically speaking.
My forever question is why is simple not so simple for me?  Why should this challenge be any different?

Naydee had a craving for a Vanilla cake on top with raspberry filling. Hubby chose dark chocolate for the bottom.
The tippity top of the cake was covered in a sumptuous white chocolate ganache under a  lovely fondant.  The bottom was covered in a dark chocolate ganache. Simple?  I think not!
In addition, they ordered “salted caramel minis. ” These babies  have homemade caramel inside and caramel butter cream with a touch of Kosher salt on top. Very delicious... (my Jenny’s favorite!!!)

... And I need to mention the couple are my niece Ana’s friend, so they got a little special treatment (cariño.)
Ana set up the table for them.

...And, Red Velvet cake Pops

Beautiful Mom & Handsome Dad are going to be awesome brand spanking New Parents soon.

PJ's First!

PJ's Custom Confection Circus Cake Topper

The elephant's dancing with
The giraffe -- the pigeon
Is necking with the dove
The clown spins the dwarf
And throws their child
Into the air with joy
No crisis no tears
Blue sky above
.

Pj's First Birthday was a poppety pop success!!  Godmother commissioned Nancily's shack to confection the popcorn cupcakes and a personal smash cake which is a a cookie on a Popsicle stick (a baby friendly addition)

In total, there were 70 cupcakes, some drizzled in caramel and some not!
All in all, none of them will be forgot!
(How is that for poetry?)

Pop-Corn
by Evaleen Stein
Pop! Pop!--Poppetty-pop!
Shake and rattle and rattle and shake
The golden grains as they bounce and break
To fluffy puffiness--Poppetty-pop!
Bursting and banging the popper's top!
Poppetty-pop!
Pop! Pop!

The yellow kernels, oh, see them grow
White as cotton or flakes of snow!
Pop! Pop!
O-ho, how they frolic and fly about
And turn themselves suddenly inside out!
Pop-pop-poppetty! Pop-pop-pop!
The popper's full and we'll have to stop;
Pile the bowl with the tempting treat,
Children, come, it is time to eat!

Michelle and Andy's Up Up and Away Shower...for Marley Sky

And why not enjoy an ethereal shower to the tune of the quintessential "feel good" song from the Bubblegum Era:
Up Up and Away in my Beautiful Balloon...
for Baby on the way Marley Sky!

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
We could float among the stars together, you and I
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon
The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky
For we can fly we can fly

Congratulations Michelle and Andy!
The sky is the limits to Welcome to Marley Sky!

Lily too....

Two days following Lily's brother's birthday and aunt, Juan & Yola, we celebrated Lily's birthday!

Truth be told, there are four August birthdays. Its just a crazy time in the kitchen!

We scurried to Ocala, threw a meal together and caught up with chores.  The birthday surprise included this cake in White Ghirardelli Chocolate ganache layered with Raspberry everything. Nom-nom..this cake was rich, moist and delicious.

Thank goodness I stayed under size; Lily took home some scrpings to share with hubby Fidel and we still had leftovers after eight of us deliciously devoured the rest.

Happy Big Day to Yola and Juan

Epochal News has been made:
Juan made the mad turn to 60 on August 6th and Yola piggy backed her way to 79 - 2013!

Juan fell in love with the Cake I had done prior with the Remy V. for Derek, so I surprised him with his favorite, Johnny Walker. Tia  Yola, a wine lover, like me, a gifted the savory Ménage’ A Trois  we have been drinking for many many years.

Juan’s cake was butter cake with creamcheese buttercream icing and a little coco rum.  Tia Yola’s cake was yellow cake with Orange  syrup and Chocolate Ganache underneath a fondant.

We had the best of both worlds. The hardest issue I faced was trying to make these darlings small.  By the by, Mary my cousin hates left-over sweets. Ha Ha and we aim to please...no left-overs, please!

Oh, did I mention I also made a “Arroz relleno” Stuffed Rice??? Boy oh boy, my day started early and I thought I would never finish in time, but I did.

Family: Priceless!

Derek's Remy Celebration

Derek and his Remy Martin Cake

The finer things is life came in the form of a cake fashioned  by a  a Fine Champagne Cognac. A laborious process for a fine product.  'The eaux-de-vie selected for use in Rémy Martin products come from the two best growth areas of the Cognac region, the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne (the word "Champagne" defines a type of soil that is extremely chalky). The eaux-de-vie from these crus, in the heart of the Cognac region, have the greatest ageing potential.'

With this said, nothing is too good for Derek; The Remy Cake!

At the end of the day, I was pleased that Remy and Derek were a great hit!

Melissa, Derek's wife and Proprietor of Mocha Shic Events commented,  'Morning OMG it was a bigger hit than the Ice Cream Bar Cake!! I attached some pics here of my hubby with the cake everyone raved about how great it tasted as well. I posted it on my facebook page & they went crazy I gave your email out to a couple of people so expect a lot of calls LOL '

Happy Birthday Derek! Thank you Melissa!
