Laura is 17!

Laura: Yesterday, she was a happy child and today and forevermore she is a woman with a radiant smile.

Laura's mom decided to celebrate her birthday. Laura chose the “One Direction” British band theme - which Laura loves!

Go figure, we loved the Beatles, my daughter loved the“New Kids on the Block” and now Laura with an "L" for love (loves)"One Direction." ...and the beat goes on...

To my contentment, she was excited and simply loved her cake. Swoosh! Thank goodness I was spot on and baking in the same direction...

Baby you light up my world like nobody else,
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed,
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
If only you saw what I can see,
You'll understand why I want you so desperately,
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful,
Oh oh,
That's what makes you beautiful -
One Direction

Henry the Dad, happens to celebrate his  birthday the same week. Migdy wanted to surprise him, therefore, she ordered a small bundt cake for him. But, you know Migdy...  she added a few bells and whistles of her own choosing. The request included a computer as he is a computer whiz and owns his very whizzy company. My added sprinkle was that of a mouse...

This family is special. Migdy spreads her explosive joy to her kin with her a super caffeinated doses of love! Amazing folks!

A cupcake a day keeps the Doctor away!

Swoosh! Just finished these festive cupcakes for my Doctor. I must say, these beautiful paper cups look fantastic and the beauty of it all is No pans needed.  It's late and I am admiring this batch, as I sit down for the first time in hours, how elegant these cakes sit on this resurrection glass  cake plate.

These cupcakes are a combination of Orange flavors, butter cake with yet more grated orange; did I mention lots of butter? The final  ingredient that makes this batch make your taste buds boom boom pow is  the ganache: Ghirardelli 60 % Cacao and heavy whipping cream and oops more butter! The end dressing is an extraordinary shade of  butter cream.  Ahh, something about orange and chocolate that makes my heart beat! Yum.  I just know he is going to like it!

The Real Cardamon Deal!

Hello Everyone,

The real deal is here! Above you see the Cardamom Cookie Tree.

Large: 21 cookies ranging from 8 inches to 1 inch: price: $ 45.00 in the green

...or if you prefer in light blue such as in the  cookie trees pictures below...

I was so eager to make one just for show, but I found this project super time consuming and vast in materials, as well. So, if you want one,I will take it upon request -- just for you.

The  Cardamom Cookie tree is also available in a smaller size.  These too are made up of cookies, however only 11. This makes for half of the large tree and is  $ 25.00.

These trees are mounted on a cake board and wrapped with a Christmas cellophane bag.   Side bar: they are quite heavy, so I have also placed a wooden dowel in the center so the cookies are lifted out easily.

They can be frozen until ready to eat. To defrost, you must take the bag off immediately to air dry; about an hour.

They truly make for a beautiful centerpiece.

The Christmas tree cookies that some of you have ordered for teacher’s and friends are
$ 5.00 ea. They are super size about 5 inches  in bigness and come individually wrapped with ribbon and tag. Personalized at no charge.

Regretfully, I cannot take any more orders after Friday December 7, because I will be going home to Ocala on December 14th - returning on January 2nd for a much needed 'R & R' Holiday!

I cannot begin to thank all of you all for  your business and compliments. I am humbly grateful!

Thank you and Have a Happy Holiday,

Nancy

Cardamon Cookie trees, anyone?!

Holiday schedule as follows:

Ocala bound on the 14th and in the stay-cation mode untiI January 2, 2013!

The plan: cookie trees and Italian Creme Cupcakes/ Cakes. As for the trees, they are comprised of stars that graduate in sizes, carefully stacked until...Voila!...it looks like a Christmas tree.

These goodies can be made ahead of time and can serve as beautiful edible centerpieces.

Excited me! I just ordered the cutters. If all goes well, next week is slated for samples; if I don’t go crazy with the 3 orders I have pending.

I have selected  'Cardamon' flavored cookies, which I love!
car·da·mom/ˈkärdÉ™mÉ™m/

Noun:
  1. The aromatic seeds of a plant of the ginger family, used as a spice and also medicinally.
  2. The Southeast Asian plant (Elettaria cardamomum) that bears these seeds.

Good idea?   These trees coupled with the Italian Creme Cake are going to fill our bellies and the holiday spread!

T'Day fun food!

These mini Turkey cake pops traveled their way to Ocala. Mini  apple pies, made to order and Mini pecan pies as well...

One ins Ocala, our welcoming committee met and greeted us with great enthusiasm at the front door which was especially nice since this holiday includes our outdoor residents as well...

A tip from me to you!

Culinary tipster time:   Pay attention to this diddly! I used already made dough for the pies; I made the apple filling and used a mini cupcake mold. Voila! Cuteness. Superbness! Give it try!

A the Little Pumpkin cake!

This pumpkin cake was born from a mini bundt cake mold. I then whipped out a spice pumpkin recipe for the cake and then drenched it in spiced rum simple syrup; operative word is DRENcH! I joined the two bundts to make it look like a pumpkin. Ahumm! I used Swiss pumpkin meringue butter cream for the filling and a pretzel rod driven through the center to hold both pieces together. While at it, I just happened to have on hand some caramel sauce so I drizzled it on top. Like?
*These were my way of saying Thanks to my clients that placed   tall Thanksgiving  orders. I placed them in a clear box. A gift of Just  deliciousness - like icing on a cake!

David "Cake Boss" is now eleven!

David is turning 11. He loves football and plays football. He loves U.M.  and believe it or not his favorite show is “Cake Boss!”  He may just be a baker when he grows up.

Man Oh Man!  He is going to be quite a catch; he is a lovable young man who already knows what he wants.  Let's see, what is the phrase? " A Man’s Man and a Ladies Man." what a combo.

Yellow Submarine Extravanza for Ana!

Just look at it! What say you?!
This cake weighs over 60 pounds.  I can barely pick her up. This baby serves between  90 to 100 salivating sugar lovers.

Funny. Ehemm, peculiar... how my cousin Ana, started by saying, “I need a little cake for 10.”  It sort of turned into 10 X 10; closer to 100.  Hence,  I baked one layer and the next day the head count went a up again.  Therefore, I extracted another layer from my faithful oven.  I thought, I was done and another layer came to play.  Dag-gum-it! This is the cake that literally “Grew”.

Enjoy her story (testimonial) on my Blog (which she writes for me)   Our Story! Baby Boomers and the Yellow Submarine!
(a/k/a Partners in sweetness - yes we are)

When I was done I took some 'plop plop fiz fiz - oh what a relief it is' meds.' Finito! Mission accomplished!

This is our Story: Baby Boomers & the Yellow Submarine!

It happened one night; a party was born. Every event has a story and this is ours.

This is our story of hope, celebration and gratitude.

This is a story about a tall task and 'thee' most fantastical, one of a kind, Yellow Submarine cake- Ever!

Thanks to Nancily, a dream has come true and a star has been born!!

It was a warm Florida night. Alicia was in her kitchen, the stove was hot and the smell of re-fried garbanzo beans floated into those familiar spaces that invite culinary house smells to linger. The door bell rang with nervous anticipation, time and again, until all the guests amassed.

Bottles were opened. Glasses kissed and toasts to the moon and the stars were lifted high. Five couples cheered on and two birthdays were celebrated that night.

It was a night of green palms crisply scented with that smell of of grass we all know. The breeze tipped the air with a touch of chlorine. The pool offered a glistening, happy light while little white boxes lined up around the circumference of the pond to embrace the reflection of the water with natural sparks and  low burning flames.

We laughed, no doubt it was the  result of the fire in our bellies ignited by smoke
 drunken
cigars
 big and small.

Melancholy was the last to arrive; bitter sweet memories surfaced; only a couple of years before we were collectively disheartened on a  solitary and comfortless November day. Our lives wheeled soundlessly for the longest time.  Grace was gone.

Birthdays came and went. My 50th went quietly and unnoticed; all other birthdays were packed away like the winter clothes you store in a typical Florida closet, shorn and dark. That night between the breeze and the banter, in the falling quiet, an idea was birthed; a motive to celebrate life: baby boomers, Beatles and a Yellow Submarine!

The Star of the Main event:
The evolution of the Submarine Revolution!

Images made from icing.

In the beginning:

48 eggs, 12 cups of flour and
4 pounds of butter,
cream cheese butter cream and a drenching of coconut rum...

A whopping fifty pounds of creamy lusciousness has arrived in this big reveal.

...'So we sailed on to the sun,
Till we found the sea green,
And we lived beneath the waves,
In our yellow submarine,

We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

And our friends are all aboard,
Many more of them live next door,
And the band begins to play.'...
