Macho Man's 83rd!

 

 

We call him Tio Macho his birthname is Pedro Fuentes. He is one of  the last Patriarchs of our family - if not the last.  He comes from a long line of charismatic Fuentes'. He was a Political Prisoner for 20 years and we all anxiously waited faithfully that he would return and join the litter of family members in Miami.

 

I hit the ground running this January! Right now, it is odd and sounds impossible, but I am  busy and slow. My computer has translated into a nightmare-ish experience and you already know about the phone contacts.

Tio’s birthday was Janunary 10th and heis now the young age of.  He worked at Dinner Key Marina 'la Marina” for 15 years.  He began his stint there not long after he arrived from Cuba.  Once a professor, later a polictical prisoner and finally a family man able to be with his family. He dabbles in philosophy and is the handiest of men; he fixes ideas and things. His favorite everyday food is carne de puerco y boniatos with an occasional beer.

 

He is ours and we hope to spend many, many many more birthdays together.

Gene's 40th!

I remember the day he was born, he struggled so hard to get out, but some of my parts were hanging onto his throat! ARgh! The Doctors were spot on and saved him from my mighty grip. 40 years ago we welcomed  my first born boy, Gene.

 

When I finally got to see him, whew, he was not a pretty baby, he was black and blue with occasional scratches. He looked more like a prize fighter after a losing fight - it was his fight for life. Low and behold, I was the tough contender!

Special goods for my Poker and Cigar loving son...

He got a bit of everything, and we got to spend it with him. Perfect.

Here is my son celebrating his 40^th with his daughter Alyssa, (my baking helper). I Thank God every day for him (as well as my Jenny) and so on and on….

Love is in the air.

2013 has started like every other year - crazy! Hence, my immediate goal is to become even more organized. 

Sidebar: However, just as I was to place all my piggies in a row, my computer and phone crashed and burned.  All my contacts went to phone heaven - all was lost!  Please forgive me for what is to become of me and my contacts...

 

And, now let’s address the Love treats.  I have been laboring enthusiastically to make a beautiful “Love” gift that anyone and everyone can afford.

I am all about this beautiful box which says of all things, “Poemes d’Amour'. I filled it with 3 cookies,  a “Bee” cookie and 2 others, “My,” “Love.”  Quippy right? Bee My Love. (see illustration above)

I do have the Mini Heart cake in Fondant- clear box and this year( $10.), the large cupcake with beautiful wrapper that also can be boxed ($ 5.)  All these desserts are a special in telling someone you care, because they are all homemade and made with love.  And you know how I love details.
