This bash was at Marys house. In case you didn't know, Mary is boss when it comes to events! The theme was a-la-Cubana.
Selena Llanes prepared a surprise fiesta or better known in Cuban circles as 'un asalto' for her Husband. She
ordered 2 cakes because there were 4 other family members celebrating birthdays the same
week. She ordered mini cupcakes in Guava, Coconut, red velvet, flan cupcakes and Domino cookies as party favors.
My Jenny was hired as the official bartender .
Mary went all out! The decorating was over the top of any Cuban palmera!
Notice all the vintage Cuban items that were displayed: small calderos, flower arrangements in Cuban cigar boxes, peanuts wrapped in brown cones, carne fria on a cutting board, the cake was on a Domino table, the vases holding glasses had little lights inside, Cuban posters galore and Lilia, our friend made the beautiful fabric covered Conga drum.

Voila! The best carne fria - Ever:
It’s a typical meatloaf recipe from “Pioneer Woman” albeit
no bacon or sauce. The carne is shaped by into a meatloaf by using heavy duty foil paper in long
logs about 1 ½ - 2 inch rolls.
-Close foil tightly to keep round log
shape.
-Put in glass rectangle baking dish with water about an inch of water.
-Bake for 1 hour.
-Let cool cut into ½ slices.
-Place cream with piping bag
and swirl tip and do like you would a cupcake.
-Slice Cantimpalo circles
in half
-Twist into a little cone floret
-Put in cream, they look
like cupcakes, but with meat.
-The cream is – 1 pkg. of cream cheese with ½ jar of Guava
preserves, blend together, if its too soft, stick in refrigeration for a bit
and then pipe .
